I totally agree. I actually gave up, and bought an atom-based board instead. I really like the Utilite hardware though, so it's a shame no one takes this serious and get it fixed. It's been more or less no changes for 6 months.

I'm currently trying to compile the latest official kernel with usbnet+asix kernel modules, as I'm trying to use a USB network adapter (D-Link DUB-E100, only 10/100 I'm afraid) to serve as the primary/secondary NIC and circumvent the problem that way.

Probably a waste of time, but what can you do, we all bought the relatively expensive piece of hardware and we expect it to work as advertised.

Yeah, it's really sad that no one seems to care anymore. 6 months, and no progress at all :( I'll probably won't connect the unit again, even though I still have (a very small) hope that they will get this fixed sometime...

Getting a vanilla kernel up and running requires some modification. Instead of installing the tar.gz file on SD, you may just pick the kernel sources (/home/utilite/kernel).

The asix device I have (Apple USB Ethernet adapter) ist running fine, but the kernel crashes when I try to activate the WLAN device.

I know this is an old thread, but I just wanted to add my voice to the mix...

I'm also experiencing this issue on Arch linux which I'm using as a router.

Does anyone know if this is certainly a hardware or a software issue? WayneS seems to have had luck when he got his Utilite replaced. How would I go about getting a replacement if required?

If this is actually a software issue, what is being done to correct this? The main reason why I purchased the Utilite was because of its dual NICs. I really do love the device, but with intermittent dropouts, it really does leave a sour taste in my mouth.

If someone from Utilite could get back to me on a solution which they can offer, that would be great. Please let me know if there is any information which I can provide to make it easier to resolve the issue.

I would also like to know if there is any progress on this issue? I was under the impression that this had been resolved in later kernel versions, but after trying out 3.16,3.17 and 3.18-rc kernels this weekend I have consistently been able to reproduce this bug.

A status update would be much appreciated.

I'm also interested in an update. I've been trying all latest kernels, including the provided 3.10 kernel - same issue all the time.

I have started to look into this issue. I have done some testing with cpu powersave governor set to performance. 100 mbit duplex traffic works without any hangs so far.
I set pci=nomsi and observing the cpu load it gets quite high. I'm gonna mess around with msi parameters tomorrow and see if I can spread out the load on multiple cores.

Johan,

I've tested all of the workarounds that you can find when Googling around for this issue. However, nothing has really helped. Some of it did improve things - but since it wasn't 100% ok, I kind of gave up..

But if you find any more clues - please get back and report your findings here.
