Hi,

This is a 5Giga-image of the CompuLab Ubuntu 14.04 Demo rootfs.

http://compulab.co.il/utilite-computer/ ... .img.5G.xz

Dump the image to an SD-card (min size 6G) and boot from
# xz -dc armhf-trusty-vpu-gpu.img.5G.xz | sudo dd of=/dev/<sdcard device
node> bs=1M

This image requires no changes in the boot environment.

Regards,
Valentin.

Great update/news! This is indeed encouraging. Does this image contain also updated kernel version?

Would it be possible to provide also standard kind of image to use with Windows Disk Imager or guide how to use it with this *.5G.xz file which contains two separate images (boot partition and root fs I suppose)?

I'd would like to test the new image but I need to use Windows tools to extract the image(s) to the memory card.

This is the standard one, but just compressed by xz.

Make use of 7-zip in order to decompress the .xz file.
http://www.7-zip.org/

Follow instructions on this page and dump the image to an SD-card.

Ok, thanks Valentin.

Everything worked just fine after I realized that the *img.5G file type after unzipping the image with 7-zip was actually that normal image file and the ".5G" part could be just deleted.

Here is some test results:

+ Kubuntu image booted from SD card just fine with USB keyboard and mouse (I've had the latest uboot unmodified)
+ Basic functionality is ok
+ KDE seems to be fast enough after removing all desktop effects
+ Basic HDMI sound is ok
+ First ethernet adapter works fine (didn't try the intel one)
+ Removable USB media works (exFAT file system was not recognized thow)

- Video rendering seems to be a little bit sluggish even with low resolution videos
- HDMI sound is also sluggish when playing videos and some sounds are rendered quite odd way
- Firefox seems to get wild with all SSL sites (is there a problem with SSL root sertifigates?)
- There is no sound from browser
- Couldn't find a way to change the keyboard layout to finnish from the settings panel
- Couldn't find a way to connect to the discovered wireless networks from the network panel (wireless networks was shown there but there was now way to connect to them, could be more like KDE applet issue)
- Bluetooth seems to work but I couldn't connect it to any other device
- All over performance was not so different from the Ubuntu 12.02 image (there could be a lot of reasons for this)
